Local high school musicians promise to educate eager music lovers on the evolution of instrumental jazz music over the past 100 years. From classic swing jazz standards popularized by singers and musicals throughout the 20s, 30s, and 40s. To contemporary songs filled with rich harmonies and complex improvisational sections. With a bit of latin, latin-inspired, funk, and jazz rock sprinkled in for good measure.
This award winning band routinely receives Unanimous Superior ratings at CMEA competitions, performing throughout the state.
The Maria Carrillo High School jazz band hopes to show Oakmont that music is a universal language that transcends boundaries, and transforms lives, from young to old. Their Santa Rosa music education program is dedicated to providing a platform for aspiring musicians, regardless of socioeconomic background. The program not only nurtures musical skills, but also fosters creativity, discipline, teamwork, resilience, and confidence.
Are you ready to share in Maria Carrillo’s youth infused musical passion?
