Bay Area pianist Ian Scarfe is the director of the Trinity Alps Chamber Music Festival, which will bring an ensemble to Oakmont for a presentation of classical and romantic trios for violin, cello, and piano. Scarfe will be joined by two local musicians who are taking part in the 2023 Trinity Alps Festival: cellist Evan Kahn, the principal cellist of the New Century Chamber Orchestra, and Samuel Weiser, the first violinist of the Del Sol String Quartet.
Since 2011, this festival has presented over 500 concerts across Northern California, with a special emphasis on visiting rural communities and offering musicians “artist retreats” in the scenic and remote regions of California. The concert will feature Robert Schumann’s great masterpiece, the Piano Trio in F Major, Op. 80, as well as other classical and romantic works. The musicians will offer spirited and entertaining discussions of the music, sharing stories of the composers and their lives and the music being performed.
